The Portuguese translation of Ljungstedt’s book has the title Um Esboço Históricico dos Estabelecimentos dos Portugueses e da Igreja Católica Romana e das Missões na China.
It is published by the city council of Macau as it was called before the handover to China in 1999, Camara Municipal de Macau Provisória. The translation is made by Ilídio A. de V. Félix Alves, who has also written an introduction covering 40 pages where he also mentions Ljungstedt’s life in Macao, the publication of some of his articles in the Macao newspaper Echo Macaense, his donation to a school at Linköping, the painting by George Chinnery of Ljungstedt and so on.
Several chapters of the book were actuually published in the Portuguese language newspaper Echo Macaense at the end of the 19th century.
